A Challenge Week Success!
What a great week! I was able to get so much accomplished this week(well mostly this weekend), 4 quilt blocks, a tissue holder, and my Mini Margaret! At long last, here she is! As you can see I went with the blue fabric button, I went with a better button though, the first set of covered buttons weren’t holding together as well as I had hoped, so I found another kind that I like, and if I get tired of the black frame around it I can change it out for another color, or I can just take it right off!
And here is the inside, complete with 2 pockets, a pen pocket and a debit card pocket. I changed the pockets from the original pattern because when I shrunk the pattern the pockets that were the “right size” were to small for my liking, so I opted for 2 different sized pockets
I love it, the color, the shape, the size I couldn’t be happier! My Mini Margaret is about half the size of the real Margaret bag, I didn’t want anything big, as I am not a purse girl normally, but I love this bag! It happened quite by accident as some of you may have read in a previous post. I like to print out my patterns 2 pages to a sheet so that I can cut them in half and put them into a mini binder, this saves space, wastes less paper and its easier to lift a mini binder rather then a full big binder. But when I went to print the pattern template pieces I forgot to change the settings back to one page per sheet, and so I created a “mini” Margaret by accident. I did also print of the full size template for later use!
Please put on sunglasses for the next picture, my very white legs may blind you! What can I say, I would rather be quilting then out in the sun!
Thanks Amy for the Challenge this week! I really needed a kick in the pants to get a project done!

Oh, I see it, now, in the instructions. I have intermittent blindness, apparently. Sorry!
Did you use the shoulder strap or the cross-body strap for your half-sized version?
No problem at all! I used the shoulder strap for mine, as I think the longer strap would have made it look weird on the mini version.
The link has been changed and the pockets are no longer in the pattern, which is why I asked for suggestions…
CUTE bag! Great finish
Thanks for the comment on my blog. It’s always fun to teach sewing to peope… sometimes a bit of a challenge though.
I really love your purse. I keep wanting to make a purse for myself, but I can’t decide which style/color/fabric… etc… I’m bad at deciding things like that on a purse.
One day!
Congrats on a productive weekend! And what a great bag! That pattern has been on my want-to-make list for awhile now. Seeing your mini version makes me want to try and get it done sooner rather than later.
Well done I love it Lindsay!!
Luckily I can edit comments Shelley! Thanks! I love it too!
the link for the bag that I printed has 2 pockets inside, it tells you the measurements of the pockets are and where to put them in your bag. Hope that helps
I printed this pattern and tutorial for my own use after seeing your picture on flickr! Unfortunately, the current link doesn’t have pockets. Do you have any tips as to cutting them?
Great bag! I love how you customized it to make your ‘stuff’ fit the way you wanted. I love how much I can customize when sewing my own bags and clothes.
