Another Challenge Week Success!!
Thanks to Amy for another great Challenge week, I have just finished #204 of my hexies, While I know I still have more to go, I am proud of myself for getting this far!!
Most of these beauties were made on our trip, they really don’t take that long if you have things prepped and ready to go, meaning…
- 200, 1″ paper hexies cut out. There is a great template here on Texas Freckles site that is easy to cut out!!
- 200 lengths of thread to baste with
- 2 needles, I say 2 needles, because as careful as I am, I drop them. I did in the car…I still can’t find it!
- 200, 2 1/2″ squares of different fabrics, mine are 17 of each color/pattern, there are some others who have done whole quilts with all totally different fabrics on it. Maybe one day, maybe larger hexies…lol
- scissors to cut excess threads with
- a good tv show to watch while basting, or maybe even a long drive, or both!
- a couple of bandaids, I poke my fingers a lot!
I had fun making these and I will make more, but for now I will start with these.
Are you itching to find out what I am making yet? I know I have shown you black and whites of all my hexies. and so now its time for the color reveal. I still cant tell you what I am making with them though! You will just have to wait for that one!! for now, a taste of color!
And as of late tonight while watching Big Brother, I started to piece together the pieces that I need for my project!! I am double proud of myself for that, as I thought yesterday afternoon, that these hexies could sit for a while, or I could start piecing, and I am glad that I started! This also means, that I need to start cutting and assembling the other sections of this project.
I also need to work some this week on my Sampler quilt. Because we went away, it got left, I hope to work towards finishing the sashing this week, and get the top put together.

I hope you are having a nice weekend.

So pretty! I don’t think I’d have the patience to sew all those little things by hand, but I’m sure it’s going to look so awesome when you’re done that I’ll wish I did!

Ah, hexies. They’re everywhere and I’ve tried them and have no patience for them. So good for you! That looks like quite a stack and I wonder what it will be…
I love, love, love those colors! Maybe someday I’ll try hexies but for now they scare me.
Wow, beautiful. I think I would be scared I’d get through part way and chicken out. So I am very proud of you for doing all those hexi. I am looking forward to see your finished product.

I love the shot with all the Hexi’s lined up perfect in the box…so pretty and perfect! They look great! So many people are doing them, makes me want to, then I think about having to stitch them together and then I change my mind! Haha, it is a lot of work! Congrats on meeting your goal!
Fall hexi’s! I’m going to guess a table runner? Great job meeting your goal, while on the road

I admire you for taking on such a task. I like your sectioned tray you used to store your hexes…am I correct in saying that it is (or similar to) a tray used to store nuts, bolts and the like? The colors look so “autumn’y’ “.
