My new favorite color combination.

Right now my new favorite color combination is red/grey/black.  Especially in these puffs.  The grey in the middle is just kettle dyed left over from my gloves that I made.  The 2 red/black at the top are from colorbombcreations and the two red/grey are from WanderingWool Mini Skein Club.

Hand Dyed Puffs

When I first starting knitting puffs, I wanted to dye some of my own.  It was fun, and I have been knitting some of my hand dyes up.

The Art of Binding Off

This sparkly purple puff reminded me that I have yet to photograph me binding off.  I am using the 3 needles bind off which is really simple it just has a lot of steps.  Sometimes ones I even forget to do…lol…good thing knitting can be undone!

My Recipe for a Perfect Puff

Everyone knits these little wonders differently, and so I thought that I would share what I do to make my perfect puff…

I cast on using Judy’s magic cast on, and then turn my needles, so that the "purl" ridge is still on the bottom of the puff, I like the ridge a lot.

I then knit 2 rows plain before I start the pattern doing my increasing and decreasing as directed in the pattern.

When it comes to the last decrease, I do not knit the final row, I just decrease and then cast off on the next row.  On the cast off, the last 2 set of sts i cast off through the back of the loops to tighten them up, otherwise I find myself with loops at the end of my cast off.

I sew in my ends immediately, so that I don’t have the daunting task of sewing in thousands of ends either before I join them up, or when the blanket is complete!

Spinning for Hexipuffs

Here and there I have been spinning on my Tiny Turkish Spindle from ThreadsThruTime I am going to do n-plyed yarn.  The fiber is BFL, from my LYS Golden Willow

All Plyed

I ended up with 30 yards of n-plyed sock weight yarn :)

And then I knit it into these lovely two puffs!!  These are my first Spindle Spin Puffs, I really enjoyed the process although it extends my puff knitting time from about 35 minutes to a week and a bit…lol
